Creation of new varieties of economically significant agricultural crops with increased economically valuable characteristics. The project to create a Potato Biotechnology Center in the Komi Republic on the basis of the Institute of Agrobiotechnologies of the Komi National Research Center of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences represents the process of accelerated reproduction of new potato varieties of original selection adapted to the conditions of the North using modern methods of cellular biotechnology (microclonal reproduction and plant health improvement). The project is aimed at solving the problem of import substitution and guaranteed provision of agricultural producers, farm owners, the population of the Komi Republic and neighboring regions with high-quality, certified planting material.
