Temperature monitoring technology in water-filled boreholes

Scope: high-precision temperature monitoring in water-filled boreholes for hydrogeological, geoecological, geocryological researches, for predicting dangerous geodynamic processes, for exploration and control over the exploitation of geothermal water resources. Effect: improved accuracy of temperature measurements due to the suppression of temperature fluctuations caused by free thermal convection.

The technology is implemented in two ways:

1. placement of vertical strips of polymer film in the interval of temperature measurements, dividing the borehole section into several sectors (segments);

2. placement a cylindrical sleeve made of an expanding polymer mesh, in which spherical hydrogel granules are placed, which, when the garland is installed in a water-filled borehole, increase in size, stretching the mesh to fill the entire space of the borehole in the measurement interval.

Both the methods are protected by RF patents
